John and Sam

We dressed as a family of lions and went to the Murphy's house for a pre-Trick-or-Treat party. It was the main event for us as Sam is too young for candy, and he actually fell asleep at the party. I think everyone in costume was a lot for him to process. Laura Murphy knows someone who owns a vulture and had them hang out in the front yard, which was a big hit with the trick-or-treaters!

World Series!

Sam went with John to Uncle Jimmy's house to watch the World Series and hang out with some friends.  He had a great time with the guys and was a little disappointed when I came to pick him up for dinner.

Pumpkin Patch Fail

I guess it was predictable that Sam wasn't going to love wearing his fuzzy polyester lion costume in the 80 degree heat sitting on hay at the pumpkin patch but I couldn't resist the photo op.  He actually warmed (no pun) up to it after I took off the costume and let him chew on some of the hay.

Chip's Visit

Our good friend Chip James came to town this week.  Last time he was here we didn't get to see much of him because I went into labor the night he arrived! He and Sam got to hang out quite a bit this time though and Sam loves his new friend.  We just hope Chip brings the rest of his family back again soon!

Baby Sam and Sadie

 Yesterday afternoon we went to visit our neighbors, Piper (4) and Sadie (2), and their mom Jess.  The girls were so sweet sharing their toys with "Baby Sam" and he got a little overwhelmed with all of the attention. This is Sadie sharing her chair and toys with Sam.

Saturday Morning Paper

Sam and John read the Wall Street Journal after we went on a walk this morning.

Playgroup

We joined a playgroup of kids all within 6 months of Sam's age.  They all should start Kindergarten at Bird Rock Elementary together but for now they pretty much just roll around on the ground. This is Sam on his way to play.  I forgot to take pictures while we were there though :)

...that seems to be the net result of his efforts.  As I consequence I keep finding him with his legs stuck underneath furniture. 

6 Months

Highlights at 6 months:

• He is consistently sleeping about 10 hours a night.  I still wake him around 11 for a "dream feed," but I think we'll drop that soon.
• We are introducing solids and so far he's liked everything he's tried.
• He has tons of toys however prefers to play with cell phones, cords, remote controls, or paper.
• He's not quite crawling but can scoot around where he want to go and he's getting fast!
• He can almost sit by himself but usually ends up flinging himself forward or backward

I turned away for a second and Sam had not only scooted all the way over to his chair but was trying to climb into it! Which is funny because when I put him in it he tried to climb out :)

Sam tried and tried to play with this kid but he was kind of lame.
