Saturday at the Cove and Children's Pool

We took Sam down to the cove and Children's Pool.  It was a hot but pretty day.

Other news:
We had to drop the crib to "level 2" after finding him with a leg and arm flung over the side in an attempt to escape. He also does this trick on the changing table.  Once you lay him down he throws one leg over and then grabs the changing pad for leverage. He thinks it's hilarious.

He's closer and closer to a real crawl. He rocks back and forth on all fours a lot and does this leap frog thing where he pushes off off with this legs and lands on his chest because his arms aren't strong enough to catch him yet.  I'll try to get some good video of him in action.

He had butternut squash today too.  It was a hit.

Avocados and Bananas

Yum!

He's "pretty good" with the spoon
He figured out he could eat what spilled off of his chair

Naptime?

I love that my monitor lets me capture these still shots. He must know that I'm watching him through that camera!

Going Mobile

This morning I put Sam on his back in the middle of the playmat so that I could go cook breakfast.  I turned around and saw this:
He's not really crawling yet. He seems to be able to move every way but forwards, but he gets where he wants to go!

He is also very vocal lately.  He plays with a lot of sounds and sometimes I swear he's going to talk himself hoarse.

The other development is that he prefers to feed himself rather than someone else holding the spoon.  He's pretty good at getting it into his mouth however still ends up wearing a lot of food.  So far he's tried bananas, avocados, peaches, yogurt, apples, strawberry, sweet potato (which he did not like), rice cereal, peanut butter (yep, no reaction), and chocolate cake (thank you, Grandpa B.). Bananas seem to be his favorite so far with strawberry as a close second.

And, the best yet, he goes into deep belly laughing fits. You just have to make faces or zerbert his belly and he cracks up. It's the sweetest sound I've ever heard.

5 months

This photo shoot was the most challenging yet.  I'm not sure I'll be able to do the sign next month:
